Fostering Her Appreciation for the Arts
Continuing Door County’s Rich Tradition of Women Artists
Door County is rich in artists from all of the disciplines—painting, sculpting, and music, to name a few. The Women’s Fund has made it possible for women and girls to be mentored by some of our resident artists.
Through our grants to local historical groups, young women and girls learn about the women who were influential in the development of Door County and its towns, and even to be part of a discussion group that relates the women in Shakespeare's work to them and their daily activities.
The students’ thanks for the opportunity to work with our local artists is reflected here. Through projects like this we have the chance to enrich our daily lives with the arts all around us.

“This opportunity allowed me to learn and expand my knowledge in painting, specifically watercolor. I am preparing for a career in nursing . . . .it was still a way I could learn and be involved with something I really love.”
