Recognizing and Honoring Her
Recognizing and Honoring Her: The Women of Door County
These are the faces of women who have touched the lives of many and have made or are making a lasting impact in our community. We honor them for their exemplary lives.
They cross the spectrum of age and experience. She taught in a one room school house, drove her children across the USA with a mattress tied to the top of the car looking for a place to live, sleeping under the stars. Having recuperated from devastating illnesses, she shared hope with others suffering from cancer and mental illnesses. She guided her children with quiet determination and wisdom. Owning her business, she provided sustainable jobs while supporting others in need anonymously.
Education was key to these exceptional women: in leadership, teaching, and returning to school at any age. Community activism gave them the opportunity to serve and shape their communities.
We salute these dynamic women. They represent women in the past and women today who are strong, loving and nurturing. These are the women who help build our communities! When she thrives, we all prosper!
